Magento Store Showcase – Part 2

By January 23rd, 2012 No comments

We continue our conversation with Steve Tallent, President at Beeyoutiful.com, who was one of the first adopters of Magento.

Be sure to read Part 1 of this interview where Steve describes the first years of using Magento and the positive changes happened in the past few years.

Q: What’s the most powerful extension/s for you and why?

A: Well, Z-Blocks has been a dream. We’re exploring new ways to use it all of the time. Right now we’re looking at getting the RSS Reader to bring in multiple feeds, from our blogs, our Forums, our Facebook page, put them into Z-Blocks and start displaying them in different places, so we have dynamic content to engage our customers and encourage them to interact with us in those settings.

We also have on tap to try to get polls into Z-Blocks, so that we can schedule the old poll to go offline and a new one to come online weekly without us having to be there at that time to make that change. Z-Blocks is SO powerful.

Although I’ve had it for a long while and the shine has worn off and I’m not quite as enamored as I once was, the Review Rotator is a powerful tool. Marketers know just how powerful reviews are, and having them out in a sidebar where they might attract some attention to a previously untried product, is invaluable. The extension allows you to apply a filter so that you don’t get the really horrible reviews rotating through either. There aren’t very many, but you know there are those people that just like to complain.

Checkout with a Single Click

By January 9th, 2012 No comments

The One Click Checkout extension for Magento allows customers to checkout directly from the product page or shopping cart page with just one click, skipping the annoying checkout steps. Buyers will not have to click the tiresome ‘Continue’ button, expediting the checkout process. All they need to do is login to their account and take advantage of one click ordering.

The One Click Checkout module doesn’t replace the standard Magento ‘Add to cart’ button. Instead it adds an additional ‘One Click Checkout’ button with the ability to choose billing and shipping addresses right on the product page.

When you click the ‘One Click Checkout’ button on any product page or cart page, a special pop-up window is invoked where you choose a payment method. You can also see the available number of reward points and use them during checkout, but it requires the Points & Rewards Magento extension installed on your store.

The One Click Checkout extension is super easy at installation and configuration. It will take you no more than a couple of minutes to configure the module to display the button to different customer groups and choose the available payment methods.

Make stock status more attractive!

By December 28th, 2011 2 comments

The Custom Stock Display extension replaces the native Magento stock status with image, text, or both text & image showing customers the available number of items in an attractive and eye-catching way.

Use the Custom Stock Display extension for Magento to better inform your customers about stock availability of your products. Upload different images for different available items quantity and make your product page more informative and cute.

Even instead of the standard ‘Out of Stock’ Magento notification, the Custom Stock Display Magento extension offers you to specify the text and/or images you wish to be displayed on the product page.

With Custom Stock Display, you can define the expected date when the product will be available. So when a product quantity drops below 1, the admin-specified notification will be automatically displayed, e.g. ‘In Stock in 5 Days’.

The Custom Stock Display extension is very easy at installation and configuration. So it will take a couple of minutes to configure the module to show items quantity for simple, configurable, virtual, and downloadable products.

Rumours are justified – aheadWorks releases new search module

By December 13th, 2011 No comments

We have been talking about it in Facebook and Twitter for several weeks. And finally today we are ready to release it – the Advanced Search Magento extension which replaces native search with Sphinx, an external search engine.

100 000 inventory items and 10 000 blog posts search is not a problem now
If you run a really large Magento store, you definitely know how difficult it is for your customers to find something they require very fast. Advanced Search is a perfect solution for search through Magento-based stores.

If you have 10000 products in your store, our brand new extension will help your customers to find those which are required.

If you have 1000 posts in your blog from aheadWorks, it’s not a problem for Advanced Search as well.

How it works
Advanced Search uses Sphinx. Sphinx is an open source full text search server. This powerful search engine is used by different popular websites, such as Craigslist.org, mysql.com, joomla.org, tumblr.com, Dailymotion.com. etc.
